Kayla Harrison Strikes Back At PFL’s Mockery Before Her UFC 307 Fight
Kayla Harrison
Kayla Harrison’s journey from PFL to UFC hasn’t been without its drama. The two-time Olympic judo gold medalist built her MMA career in PFL. She dominated the competition, becoming a two-time champion in the process. But as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. Harrison decided to test her mettle in the UFC’s deeper talent pool. This move apparently didn’t sit well with her former employers.
Just hours before Harrison’s UFC 307 bout against Ketlen Vieira, PFL threw some shade. They posted a tweet highlighting Harrison’s sole loss to Larissa Pacheco in 2022. Now, fans might expect Harrison to fire back with both barrels. But she took the high road.
“I operate from a place of gratitude, and I grew up in that organization. I was able to financially provide for my family…I feel like I was a big part of that, and I take pride in that…But I just don’t have time for that kind of negativity and those digs. I’m chasing my dreams. If anybody has a problem with that, I’ve said it very clearly before — they can go f*ck themselves,” Harrison told MMA Fighting.
Kayla Harrison acknowledged her growth in PFL and the financial stability it provided her family. But don’t mistake her graciousness for weakness. She made it clear that she is not here for negativity.
Even Larissa Pacheco, the fighter who handed Kayla Harrison her only loss, called PFL’s move “uncalled for.” The Olympian Judoka is confident she made the right choice in joining UFC, and she will be looking to dominate in the UFC as she did in PFL.
Kayla Harrison Reveals Health Scare Leading Up To UFC 307 Fight
Harrison’s fight at UFC 307 was supposed to be a triumphant moment. The two-time Olympic judo gold medalist had dominated in PFL. Now, she was ready to conquer the UFC’s bantamweight division. But sometimes, life throws you a curveball when you least expect it.
Kayla Harrison secured an unimpressive unanimous decision victory over Ketlen Vieira. On paper, it looked good. In reality, something seemed off. Fans and analysts alike noticed Harrison wasn’t her usual dominant self. The mystery behind her performance was finally unveiled as she spoke to TMZ Sports.
“I had to go to the hospital the week before. I was like peeing blood, and there was some stuff going on. So, I don’t like to make excuses, but I definitely wasn’t my best inside the cage Saturday night.”
The culprit behind this alarming symptom was her weight cut. Moving down to 135 pounds proved to be a massive task. Despite these challenges, Kayla Harrison refused to make excuses and fought a tough competitor at UFC 307, ultimately winning the fight.
