Anticipation is building ahead of Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul after the pair hosted their first press conference on Monday.

As part of the media event, both fighters also squared off for the cameras, which has led to fans voicing their concerns.

The main issue online centred around Paul’s physique, who’s undergone a monstrous body transformation as he looks to try and match Tyson pound-for-pound.

This has sparked fans expressing worry for Tyson’s welfare.The former heavyweight champion, 57, looks in great nick himself, but did admit he’s been struggling with his training in the build-up to the fight.

One fan on X said: “Just from the eye test, something don’t look right? Jake looks a little too big right now. Coincidence? I think not!”

Another wrote: “Mike getting slept gunna be bad to see.” With a third adding: “Jake Paul is a scum bag for doing this, a guy Tyson’s age could get killed. This fight shouldn’t be allowed to happen.”

The fight is set to take place on Saturday, July 20, and will be held at the 80,000-capacity AT&T Stadium in  Arlington, Texas, while also being streamed live on Netflix. The event’s full details can be found here.

Tickets for the event have been another huge talking point, with the most premium VIP packages on sale for as much as $2m.

The fight marks Iron Mike’s first boxing contest since 2020, where he took on Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition bout.

Paul, on the other hand, was active in the ring as recently as March, when he won via a first-round stoppage against Ryan Bourland.

And it’s not just fans who have concerns over Tyson’s health, either. British boxing star Denzel Bentley exclusively told talkSPORT: “It’s not the same Mike Tyson we have all loved and known, so I fancy watching him come to his demise.

“He is only in the gym now because of this fight, Jake Paul is an athlete, he is a young man and coming into his physical prime and is trying to take boxing seriously. So I think it could be very dangerous for Mike Tyson.”

Another British boxer, Richard Riakporhe, shared this sentiment, concluding: “He is definitely in danger and I think it is sad to see as a boxing fan.”

Whether such warnings ring true remains to be seen, but it’s certainly a fight that’s got the whole world talking.
