Former Britain’s Got Talent star Tom Ball had admitted it has been ‘painful’ transforming his body after going on a health kick.

The singer, 26, was a contestant on the ITV talent competition in 2022 and finished runner-up behind winner, comedian Axel Blake.

Tom has since put himself through a gruelling fitness and healthy eating regime, deciding to get himself in better shape after marrying wife Hannah Burtenshaw in October 2022.

However, Tom said he had to get ‘used to’ the pain of working out with his personal trainer.

He told the Daily Star: ‘At the start it was painful, but it kind of always is then you slowly get used to it.

‘You find things you enjoy about the gym and that’s the one thing I struggled with when I was old enough to be going to the gym but not recently.

‘When I used to go to the gym by myself, I would just lift the weights and use the running machine and I hate that.

‘It’s monotonous, there’s nothing enjoyable for me about that.

‘But my PT quickly realised that there were things that I might enjoy and that was boxing.

‘Like physical things.’

Tom previously spoke of his battle with type 1 diabetes.

Speaking to The Mirror, the singer said he hoped to share his story to help raise awareness and help others who might be suffering.

Diabetes is a lifelong condition that causes a person’s blood sugar level to become too high.

‘The condition has been something I’ve lived with for a long time and was diagnosed with officially when I was eight years old,’ he told the publication.

He said some of his students saw him checking his blood glucose levels one day.

They then asked questions and pushed him to be open about his battle.

‘But it wasn’t until my pupils asked questions about it when they witness me checking my blood glucose levels one time that made me realise how important it was to talk about it and help them to understand it.’
