Cat Deeley has revealed the text she sent to Britain’s Got Talent presenter Declan Donnelly on Sunday night.

During the latest instalment of the ITV talent series, blind couple, Denise and Stefan Leigh, from Stoke-on-Trent, left the judges in tears with their powerful operatic performance.

For the audition, Denise and Stefan took their respective duties on stage, the latter on the piano while his other half sang a rendition of The Sound of Music’s Climb Every Mountain – an inspirational piece about taking every step toward attaining a dream – and their performance left judge Bruno Tonioli in tears.

On Monday’s This Morning, Denise and Stefan appeared on the sofa to talk about the incredible audition. Starting the interview, Cat, 47, said: “Morning you guys, I sat watching it with my two boys yesterday, I was in floods of tears and the two of them were like: ‘Mum, what’s the matter?’ and I was like: ‘I can’t talk!’”

Cat then revealed she text friend and Britain’s Got Talent presenter Dec, 48, who she used to work with on SMTV Live, over the audition. Cat said she text Dec, saying: “Oh my goodness, I’m now in a puddle watching these two.”

The This Morning star added: “It was such an amazing performance and he [Dec] was like: ‘Yeah, they’re great, aren’t they?’ It must have felt amazing to get that reaction!”

After the audition on Sunday’s show, judge Bruno said: “I’m inspired by you, I’ve learnt something today about your positive state of mind. You are an example.” Many viewers had similar reactions as they shared their thoughts about the performance on social media, and more particularly on X. One fan penned: “I love them”, while another added: “These two are great.”

Denise and Stefan finished off their audition beaming, with the crowd and judges giving them a standing ovation, while their son Demetri, 11, and guide dog Tilly came to join them on stage.

The pair, who have been married for several years, shared their heart-warming backstory while Demetri was left to wait backstage with hosting duo Anthony McPartlin and Dec. Denise’s eldest sons from a previous relationship Michael, 28, and Sam, 26, were also given a seat in the audience as they cheered for their mother.
