TV royalty Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly missed out on a BAFTA Television Award for a second year running at Sunday night’s awards ceremony.

Just weeks after their famed Saturday Night Takeaway series came to a halt after 20 years on air, the tables seemed to have turned on their long award-winning streak.

Despite claiming a record-breaking 22 National Television Awards over the years, the presenting duo seem to be going down the ranks.

The Geordie duo, who are famously close off screen, were spotted leaving the ceremony separately after missing out on the accolade.

Dec was seen putting on a smiling brave face and appeared in high spirits as he left the bash arm-in-arm with his wife, Ali Astall.

In contrast, Ant was spotted looking solemn in the back of a taxi, without his wife Anne-Marie Corbett, who is imminently expecting their first child together.

Ant and Dec, both 48, last triumphed at the BAFTA Awards in 2022 for Saturday Night Takeaway, bringing their total number of awards to 19.

In 2023, the much loved pair missed out on their award after they were beaten by Masked Singer UK.

In 2019, Ant and Dec won big at the BAFTAs, receiving awards for two of their shows, I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and Britain’s Got Talent.

But after going home empty handed once again, has Britain’s love affair with the Geordie duo come to an end?

Some fans were left confused and disappointed at Ant and Dec’s snub, while others were happy someone else took home the win.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, fans penned: ‘Aw thank god Ant & Dec never won that award #BAFTATVAwards’.

‘ANT & DEC DIDN’T WIN ???’.

Ant’s rocky showbiz world has changed dramatically in the past five years, which could coincide with the duo’s award snub.

In June 2017, Ant finally admitted to being addicted to alcohol and prescription drugs, and went into rehab. Some called him ‘brave’ — others thought his career was finished.

His problems only worsened when, a year later, he crashed his car head-on into another vehicle while drunk.

But what a difference a few years can make. There was no mention at all of Ant’s travails when corks popped in 2023 at ITV to celebrate the duo’s decision to sign to the network for another three years — in a ‘golden handcuffs’ deal worth an astonishing £30 million.

Last night’s star-studded awards ceremony saw Joe Lycett steal Best Entertainment Performance gong for his show Late Night, leaving Ant and Dec stunned.

Ant was spotted looking solemn as he headed home from the awards at the Royal Festival Hall in London.

Earlier in the evening, Ant took to the red carpet alongside Dec as they both sported smart black tuxedos for the occasion.

In stark contrast, TV presenter Joe arrived in a full on Elizabethan getup after losing a bet to his two aunties.

Stepping onto the red carpet, he wore a flowing silver cape, which resembled a gown, and high ruff around his neck.

The TV personality made sure to he went all out and dyed his hair a dark red, in tribute to the Queen Elizabeth I who reigned from 1558 to 1603.

The unique choice of evening wear was the result of Joe losing a bet he had made with his aunties, Margaret and Pauline.

The pair received huge support from the public, including Eastender’s Natalie Cassidy who even offered to go as Joe’s lady in waiting.

Speaking on the red carpet, Joe, who won the Entertainment Performance Award, admitted that his Aunties had in fact reached their target meaning he had lost the bet.

‘Hence this oven baked salmon that I’m in’ he told Michelle Visage.

He quickly added: ‘This is the hottest I’ve ever been, I think. I’m over the moon with it, it’s got such scale but it’s not costume, it’s modern.’

Joe went on to praise the designer ‘Out of Your Gaze’ for the piece, who he said had been sewing for 18 hours to complete the outfit on time.

Later on in the night, Joe was presented the Entertainment Performance Award by Am I Being Unreasonable’s Lenny Rush.

Visibly shocked, Joe went onstage in the outrageous outfit to collect his gong.

Ever the funny man, the comedian then went on to say: ‘Thanks to my mum and dad, Anne Boleyn and Henry VIII.’

Posting a video to his socials, Joe captioned it, ‘Serving Tudor realness.’

Late Night Lycett is a comedy entertainment series, fronted by Joe live from his hometown of Birmingham.

It includes madcap games, hilarious sketches, Joe’s aunties, and celebrity guests.
