Holly Willoughby plans to become a global star

Former This Morning host Holly Willoughby is preparing to become a global star as she moves away from British TV

Holly Willoughby is preparing to become a global star as she makes a huge return to TV.

The presenter, 43, shocked fans when she quit her role on This Morning after 14 years. She became a household name thanks to becoming the face of daytime TV. Holly is now said to be making a move away from being a British star for global fame thanks to a deal with Netflix.

Holly’s new programme with Bear Grylls will be an I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here-style show, in which celebrities attempt to beat survival expert Bear. The show is currently called Bear Hunt, and will see Holly travel to the jungle of Central America.

A source told The Sun Holly has had “many offers” from UK networks since leaving This Morning, but the Netflix deal was a “no brainer”. Holly is said to be ready “to go into the next league” and thinks she could be “on to a winner” with the show. It comes after the presenter hired David Beckham ’s former PR in a bid to expand her global brand. She is now being represented by Caroline McAteer, who was responsible for taking brand Beckham worldwide.

A source told The Mirror: “After everything she went through last year, Holly’s circle felt she might step away from the spotlight. Her ordeal knocked her confidence. But with this new move she is actually planning to expand her brand further than ever before. She feels Caroline and her team are the best people to help mastermind this and is thrilled to be working with them.” Caroline was the Beckhams’ close confidante and spokeswoman for five years.

Football icon David and Spice Girl Victoria’s trust in her was such that when they left the Outside Organisation in 2003, she left with them – and went on to set up The Sports PR Company. In 2020, she teamed up with Caroline Dollimore, former director of publicity at Atlantic Records UK, and writer and editor Paul Flynn to form Cherry Create.

They currently represent Maya Jama, rapper Aitch, Sam Smith and Zayn Malik. Netflix has described her new show as “an action-packed competition show where a group of unlikely celebrities are dropped into the Central American jungle as prey for one of the world ’s most fearsome predators… Bear Grylls”. However, the source added: “This is far from the only project Holly is in talks about and it is very much a case of watch this space.”
