Monday’s episode of her ITV show saw a presenter shake-up, with This Morning anchor Ben, 49, drafted in for the opening scenes.

Donning a checked kilt, he led the celebrations for mum of one Lorraine, 64, who then was filmed arriving in the studio through the corridors backstage.

As she arrived in the studio, she gushed over Ben’s Scottish attire and said: “Ben Shephard in a kilt

“Ohh hello, oh look at you you look so beautiful.”

Ex Good Morning Britain anchor Ben then quipped: “I don’t get my knees out for everyone Lorraine.”

Talk then turned to her custom-made silver frock to which she confessed: “I have never had a dress made for me before.

“Sassi Holford made it, she said it should be a hug and not a squeeze, because it’s got a lot of stuff going on inside.

“Like a lovely corset-thing.

At last night’s Baftas, Brian Cox paid tribute to the “queen of daytime TV”, who has hosted ITV chat show Lorraine for the past 30 years.

During her moving speech, Lorraine said “don’t pull up the ladder” to those from working-class backgrounds to break into the TV industry.

“I suppose if I’ve learned anything at all over the past 40 years, it’s what’s the point of having all that experience if you don’t actually share it, and if you don’t actually pass it on, and help other people,” she said.

“So I would just say don’t pull up the ladder, please make it possible for kids like me from my background, from a very working class Glasgow background, rise the same from Dundee.

Lorraine thanked her mother and father for her “work ethic”, as well as her “fantastic” husband Steve Smith and her daughter Rosie, who is pregnant with her first child.

“And my daughter Rosie who is working on the most exciting production. She’s having a baby and making us grandparents and I’m so proud – this means the world,” she said of the award.

Previously, she told how she would be dubbed Granny Smith – due to her real maiden name – when the tot arrives.

During the recent Easter break, Lorraine took to social media to reveal she will soon become a grandma for the first time.
