According to recent reports by Dan Woike, a Los Angeles Times staff member, the Los Angeles Lakers interviewed Bronny James at the 2024 NBA Draft Combine. However, they may only be interested in drafting him with their No. 55 pick, not their No. 17 pick.

 

The Lakers’ decision to interview Bronny James will undoubtedly attract attention, but it is also simply a matter of the organization doing their homework on a potential option.

Being LeBron’s son obviously holds significance, mainly because the Lakers want to keep James for the rest of his NBA career, but Bronny intends to make his own mark.

Given how small this year’s draft class is, taking a chance on the son of a renowned player is a no-brainer. James’ courtside performance in Cleveland on Monday night raised questions about his intentions across the league.

According to reports, James, 39, would most likely re-sign with the Lakers in the end; he will only need to negotiate a new contract.

The Lakers are currently looking for a new head coach, and analysts are debating who the best candidate might be. JJ Redick is considered one of the top contenders for the position. Additionally, LeBron James recently appeared on a podcast with Redick, which suggests they have good chemistry. Furthermore, LeBron has expressed interest in playing on the same team as his son before retiring from the NBA.
