After firing Darvin Ham and looking for a new coach, the Lakers will have to look at the situation of several of their players during the offseason. One of these announced series has now been sealed.
The firing of Darvin Ham could only remain as one of many changes initiated by the franchise’s front office.
The Lakers are indeed one of the teams that are likely to liven up the summer in the NBA after a premature elimination in the first round of the playoffs.
In addition to the movement that is expected in the coaching staff, the Angelino squad should also undergo some adjustments.
A Lakers role player decides his future
For once, several Lakers have disappointed in recent months and are already the subject of departure rumors
. Three names have come back insistently in recent hours, while others have gone more under the radar since the end of the Purple & Gold season.
Among them, that of Christian Wood, able to test free agency but who seemed to indicate that he wanted to continue his journey in Los Angeles:
Christian Wood: I loved my first year playing for my hometown team. I would have liked to not have been injured for the majority of the season but from an overall point of view, I accomplished a dream… I will come back better and 100% healthy next season.
A trend which has finally been confirmed in recent hours through insider Michael Scotto:
Michael Scotto: Sources tell HoopsHype that Los Angeles Lakers winger Christian Wood has decided to exercise his $3 million player option for the 2024-25 season. Wood made 50 appearances for the Lakers and averaged 6.9 points and 5.1 rebounds in 17.4 minutes per game.
As he had suggested, Christian Wood should start next season in the Lakers jersey. It remains to be seen whether his physique will spare him more and whether his new coach will manage to use him in a better way than Darvin Ham.
