Following the dismissal of Darvin Ham, LeBron’s Lakers are looking for a new coach for next season. While he was part of the short list of Californian leaders, one of the potential suitors has surely put a stop to their desires.
In two years of service with the Lakers, Darvin Ham has never really been unanimous.
Important victories, including that of the In-Season Tournament, were mixed with at least as many disillusionments.
And since the ambitions of the Californian franchise were high for this season, the tactician, having failed in his mission to get his team past the first round, was dismissed from his position.
The Purple & Gold now have plenty of time to think about a replacement. And yet, the latter have already rushed to fill this position according to recent information.
Tyronn Lue in particular would even be the ideal candidate according to LeBron James . Unfortunately for him, it is this same coach who has just dampened the desires of the managers to welcome him on the team bench according to Adrian Wojnarowski.
Tyronn Lue determined to stay with the Clippers
I didn’t come here to get kicked out and go to any other team. Mr. [Steve] Ballmer, Lawrence [Frank], Mark [Hughes], Trent [Redden], Gillian [Zucker], they’ve all been great to me.
This is where I want to be, and I hope they feel the same way. I haven’t had a bad experience since I’ve been here. Mr. Ballmer showed me a lot of different things that I wouldn’t have known about if I hadn’t been here…
Having a good relationship with the owner, with the front office, it’s great. So I would like to be here long term.
Under contract with the Clippers until 2026, Tyronn Lue risked being fired in the event of early elimination in the playoffs.
Despite the defeat (4-2) in the first round against the Mavericks, the former Lakers player would finally be on the verge of signing an extension.
Therefore, LAL should give up on his potential arrival in its stable. A great friend of LeBron James , the coach was able to lift the first championship trophy in the history of the Cavaliers in his company.
But according to the latest information, it seems unlikely that a similar scenario will repeat itself for the two men and the Lakers will therefore have to continue their research work during this offseason.
Given that Darvin Ham was recently let go, LeBron James’ Lakers are looking for a new coach. While he was one of the favorites to land with the 2020 champions, Tyronn Lue should ultimately extend with the competing LA franchise, the Clippers.
