Kelsey Mitchell’s Emotional Posts Draws Heartfelt Reactions From Indiana Fever Teammates
It has been a tough year for Indiana Fever star Kelsey Mitchell. In March, the two-time All-Star’s father died suddenly at the age of 56. This has been a burden Mitchell has been carrying and has been forced to play through during the course of the season.
On Monday, Mitchell took to Instagram to share an emotional post that pretty much sums up the roller-coaster year she’s had both on and off the court.
“i got low,” she wrote. “shedded tears nobody saw. got my back dirty just to make it. threw all my cards on the table. trusted GOD to save myself. guaranteed my best. willing and able, forever dying on my own sword.”
Mitchell uploaded some of her favorite photos from the past season, which included snaps of herself alongside her family and her Fever teammates. U.S. Olympians Simone Biles and Gabby Williams even made cameos on Mitchell’s year-end photo reel.
Speaking of her Indiana teammates, they were nothing but supportive of Mitchell after seeing her emotional message on Instagram. The girls jumped on the comments section to express just how much they appreciate Mitchell as a teammate and, perhaps more importantly, as a friend.
“proud of ya ❤️” wrote Caitlin Clark.
“Thank you for allowing me in dawg! ❤️ S— deeper than this 🏀!You one hell of a human! One day you gotta share your story gang! S— will inspire folks!Pops proud of you!” commented Erica Wheeler.

Players from around the league also showered Mitchell with messages of love, with the likes of Natasha Cloud, Celeste Taylor, Sydney Colson, Isabelle Harrison, Emily Engster and Jordin Canada all commenting as well.
This just goes to show the sisterhood that exists within the league. These players give it all they have when they battle on the court, but at the end of the day, they are all just one big family.
