‘Mark my words’ – Conor McGregor insists only one thing can happen after Anthony Joshua’s latest KO loss

Conor McGregor has insisted Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois must rematch in 2025.

The UFC superstar sat ringside when Joshua suffered a shocking fifth-round knockout loss in his IBF heavyweight title fight with Daniel Dubois on September 21.

AJ insists he will fight on, but it’s currently unclear if he will be granted an immediate rematch after being beaten up by ‘Dynamite’ from the very first bell.

McGregor was caught on camera going wild every time Dubois scored a knockdown, but he insists he didn’t have a wager of the underdog scoring an upset.

“I didn’t bet on the Joshua-Dubois fight,” McGregor said during a live stream on Friday evening.

“I thought Dubois and I was correct. He was very relaxed. Sometimes you get fed up, you might get a little bit tired or something. Joshua was almost at that stage.”

Dubois appears to have set himself up for a four-belt undisputed fight with the winner of Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury II, which will take place in Saudi Arabia on December 21.

However, McGregor believes he must beat Joshua again before moving on.

He added: “Make no mistake, I think what should happen next between Joshua and Dubois is a rematch.

“And stand the ground. Don’t even go forward, don’t even go back. Stand your ground and meet.

“Joshua has a good, strong jab. He almost came back, and he did hurt him with that before he got caught with the shot.

“That’s a live fight between two very evenly matched fighters that have just put on a spectacle for us all in front of 96,000 fans in, on behalf of Riyadh Season and Turki Alalshikh.

“Do that again. For real, do that again.”

McGregor will soon begin focusing on his first UFC fight in over three years.

‘Notorious’ was supposed to return from the broken leg he suffered in July 2021 earlier this year, but another injury prevented him from squaring off against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 in June.

Instead of waiting for McGregor, Chandler has opted to face Charles Oliveira in the co-main event of UFC 309 on November 16 instead.

UFC CEO Dana White says McGregor will make his MMA comeback in 2025.

The former dual-weight champion still hopes to settle his beef with Chandler, but White has insisted no decision has been made about McGregor’s next opponent.

UFC fans are impatiently waiting for an official update on his return.
