With the WNBA season ending earlier this month, some players are already abroad playing in other leagues. Then there are some that are taking time off to rest before the Unrivaled League starts. Then there is Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark, who returned to the Iowa Hawkeyes a few months since becoming their most decorated athlete.

The timing of her arrival coincided with the Homecoming game of the Iowa Hawkeyes Football team. A clip that has surfaced on the internet shows Caitlin Clark and fellow college teammate and WNBA rookie Kate Martin walking out onto the turf of Kinnick Stadium. As the announcer introduced them to the crowd, all 69,000 of them let out a loud cheer.

The cheers were so loud that Martin had her fingers on her ears trying to lower the decibels reaching her eardrums. Those cheers did not stop until the announcer spoke into the mic and asked Caitlin Clark some questions.

After that introduction, they went back inside the tunnel, and then, came back out with the entire Iowa Hawkeyes women’s basketball team from last year. The crowd cheered them again as Clark and her teammates received their Big Ten championship rings.

Caitlin Clark famously led the team to back-to-back NCAA Championship games. In that time, she also finished her college career as the highest scorer in NCAA basketball history. Her exploits as a hometown girl have helped the Hawkeyes become one of the hottest destinations for recruits.

As earlier, not many elite four- or five-star recruits wanted to play there. Now, her influence has already reaped rewards as the program has been able to convince top ranked high school players to join. Fans, knowing all this, belted out that deafening cheer for one of their best ever.

Caitlin Clark has heartwarming moment with young fan

When the sound died down and the football game was about to start, the WNBA and Indiana Fever superstar was standing along the sidelines. At that time, the Kid Captain of the game, walked up to Caitlin Clark to meet her idol.

Clark is already well known for being great around children. But what she did next melted the hearts of the fans in the stands. The WNBA star took off both her Big Ten championship rings and handed them over to the young girl.

That Kid Captain had a beaming smile all across her face as she wore the rings on her little fingers and showed them off to the cameras. Clark did nothing else than stand back and smile, watching the little girl have her moment.

Iowa Hawkeyes Women’s Basketball is set to tip off with an exhibition game on October 30th, and their first regular season game on November 6th. As both games are in Iowa, the 22-year-old could be spending time with her alma mater.
