The Olympiacos vs Barcelona match yesterday was graced by none other than Houston Rockets’ Dillon Brooks.

The Canadian National Team player flew to Athens, Greece, for the EuroLeague match to see Olympiacos’ 92-58 win over Barcelona. The player is enjoying time off-court since the Rockets did not make it to the playoffs.

Brooks was in attendance to show support for his brother, Naz Mitrou-Long, who plays for Olympiacos.

His cameo drew a lot of attention from netizens as pictures started to surface online. Take a look at what the internet had to say.

As soon as videos from the match hit the internet, fans were quick to respond. In one video, Brooks could be seen playing around at the court, and he missed all three of his attempts at a shot.

Unfortunately for the player, the video was posted on Twitter and the replies were not too kind.

A hilariously sarcastic tweet from a Spanish user read, Many players are not able to maintain their level on the other side of the pond.

This is not the case with Dillon Brooks” (translated via Google Translate), implying that Brooks’ performance is the same back home.

Another user made an indirect comment about Brooks’ team, the Rockets getting eliminated from playoffs to go off to ‘Cancun,’ a popular joke in NBA circles online that originates from Nick Exel’s famous line, “1, 2, 3…Cancun.”

One user could simply not believe the fact that Brooks air-balled thrice, they said:

In a reply to another tweet about his appearance at the game, a user commented on his expected performance at the upcoming Olympics.

Although Team Canada hasn’t officially announced their roster for the Paris Olympics, Dillon Brooks might make a comeback.

Brooks to go up against LeBron, KD & Curry

Dillon Brooks is currently under a three-year-long commitment with the Canadian National Team which means that he will likely be present in Paris for the 2024 Olympics later this year.

Last year, he helped Canada win against Team USA in the 2023 FIBA World Cup, making it Canada’s first global tournament medal in basketball since 1936. Their win kicked the USA out of the championship.

Brooks scored a team-best 39 points in the match and broke the record for the highest single-game scoring record for a Canadian player at the World Cup. He was also named Best Defensive Player of the tournament by FIBA.

Last year, Team USA’s FIBA roster comprised names like Anthony Edwards, Austin Reaves and Jalen Brunson. This year, Brooks is about to go up against the stars of the NBA; LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Steph Curry.

As the Paris Olympics draw closer, fans eagerly wait for this clash. All eyes will be on LeBron, KD and Curry as this might be one the last big championships of their careers. This is their first time playing on the same team and fans are excited.

The 2024 Olympics are set to start in July, later this year.
