With Victor Wembanyama’s rookie season officially over, the conclusions that can be drawn from it can only be extremely positive.

As proof, the French pivot managed to record one last madness never seen in the history of the league.

During his years in the French championship, Victor Wembanyama was already a global phenomenon.

Many people were hallucinating at the simple sight of his highlights worthy of those of a fullback, even though he measures 2m24.

From then on, he became an attraction for all fans, and observers’ expectations for his NBA debut became as great as his height.

From the day he was drafted by the Spurs last June to his 71st and final game of the season during his team’s victory against the Nuggets (121-120), the 20-year-old interior player was simply breathtaking.

Barring any major surprises, the Rookie of the Year trophy should actually go to him. But we also learned that he became the first NBA player in history to validate a certain record over a season.

After only one season played, Wembanyama already in history

Victor Wembanyama became the first player in NBA history to record more than 1,500 points, 250 blocks and 100 three-pointers in the same season. Is this the best rookie season ever?

Irresistible, immense, courageous or simply way too strong, Wembanyama could be described in many laudatory ways for this first season in the NBA.

But what most marked the followers or fans were the numerous records that fell into his hands.

His season was crazy: 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 3.6 blocks and 1.2 steals on average.

Again reflecting his physique and his talent, this campaign carried out by the tricolor was extraordinary in every way.

The young prodigy demonstrated exceptional versatility allowing him to establish this new feat.

Some therefore come to think that we have witnessed the best all-time rookie season, even if others, although aware of the rarity of the feat, are more measured in their reaction.

The season could have been the best for a rookie if Wemby hadn’t been so sparing in certain games and hadn’t played under a minutes restriction.

But Gregg Popovich, Wemby and the Spurs are focused on the long term.

One thing is certain, Victor Wembanyama did not disappoint in his debut in the league, far from it.

He even became the first player in history to accumulate more than 1,500 points, 250 blocks and 100 three-point baskets in a season.

A record that he will surely beat again during his career which promises to be absolutely crazy.
