On Tuesday, Caitlin Clark will get her first WNBA season underway when the Indiana Fever lock horns with the Connecticut Sun. However, to ensure that the 2012 champions are off to a winning start, the availability of their key players is essential.

Pressing on it further, the 2024 WNBA No.1 overall draft pick opened up about who in the locker room she aims to have chemistry with on the hardwood.

After an exhausting practice session on Monday, Caitlin Clark interacted with the media and answered some of their queries. One reporter was curious about her views on sharing the court with Kelsey Mitchel and Erica Wheeler if they are ready to go tomorrow. Clark replied, “If they’re able to go, that’s great.

It’s a long season, so you gotta take care of your body and do what’s right. Two people that are vets in this game, know how it goes. It’s awesome for somebody like me. Coming in my first year, they are just two people I can lean on. So I just think how lucky and fortunate I am.”

Although there is no official report from the Fever yet, both these players were absent from Indiana’s pre-season win against Atlanta.

While Erica Wheeler was nursing some sort of illness, Kelsey Mitchel missed out due to some issues in her left ankle. Moreover, according to ESPN, she might be doubtful for Tuesday’s regular-season opener.

In the meantime, Clark’s debut is turning out to be a historic occasion at the Mohegan Sun Arena.

Connecticut diagnosed with the Caitlin Clark fever

The regular-season debut for Caitlin Clark is turning out to be quite a spectacle. Apparently, the Connecticut Sun announced on Monday that their Indiana Fever clash is a sellout. In addition to this, it is the first time that the Suns are witnessing a first-game sellout since 2003.

According to ESPN, a total of 8,910 tickets have been purchased until now. Something similar transpired in Clark’s first home game against Atlanta as well. Evidently, her popularity was able to draw 13,000 fans. This was after she sold out the College Park Center in Dallas.

Such is the effect of Caitlin Clark on her followers. The craze to witness her live in action is escalating with each passing day.

But it is not at all surprising given how much she has transformed the women’s division. It will be interesting to see if she can have such an impact throughout the season.
